No idea if it is related (didn't look), but the log api is racy and generates
spurious overruns. I have a patch ready which awaits long load testing by Geoff,
should this be successful, I will post it for review.

Regarding anything which could be related to spurious overruns, please hold your
horses until next week (hopefully).
