Understanding varnish backend health pooling

Hi.

In my tests varnish (3.x) starts to poll backends with health probes as
soon as I load the new vcl. And if I remove one of the backends in a
director, varnish stops to pass requests, but it continue sending health
probes to the disabled backend. The request passing availability on
backend change starts on "vcl.use"

Is there a way to stop probes to disabled backends without restart
Varnish?
